الصيغة الافتراضية الآمرة (mandative subjunctive) والصيغ الافتراضية الجامدة

The mandative subjunctive and formulaic subjunctives

استخدم الصيغة الافتراضية المجردة بعد الأفعال والصفات الدالة على الطلب، وتعرّف على العبارات الثابتة مثل come what may.

الصيغة الافتراضية (subjunctive) نادرة في الإنجليزية اليومية، لكنها شائعة في الكتابة الرسمية واللوائح والتقارير والتعابير الثابتة. وإتقانها علامة واضحة على الكفاءة. وأهم أنواعها الصيغة الافتراضية الآمرة (mandative subjunctive) المستخدمة في جملة that بعد كلمات تعبّر عن طلب أو توصية أو أهمية. ويكون الفعل في صيغته المجردة (base form)، دون -s للمفرد الغائب ودون تغيير في الزمن.

كثيرًا ما تستبدل الإنجليزية البريطانية الصيغة الافتراضية بـ should (that the report should be withdrawn)، وفي الاستخدام غير الرسمي بفعل عادي في صيغة الإخبار. والصيغة المجردة هي الخيار الأكثر رسمية وهي المعيارية في الاستخدام الأمريكي. لاحظ أن النفي يأتي before الفعل وأنه لا يُستخدم الفعل المساعد do.

Were والعبارات الثابتة

تبقى صيغة were الافتراضية (were-subjunctive) في المقارنات والشروط غير الواقعية: if I were you وas though she were still here. وأفضل طريقة لتعلّم كثير من الصيغ الافتراضية المتحجّرة أن تتعلمها كعبارات جاهزة: come what may وbe that as it may وfar be it from me وsuffice it to say وso be it وif need be وas it were.

  • The regulations require that every applicant be over eighteen.
  • It is essential that no child leave the site unsupervised.
  • Suffice it to say that the results were disappointing.
  • Be that as it may, the deadline stands.
  • If need be, we can extend the trial by a month.
