الأسماء المعدودة وغير المعدودة: some وany وmuch وmany
Countable and uncountable nouns: some, any, much, many
تعلّم أي الأسماء يمكن عدّها ومتى تستخدم some وany وmuch وmany وa lot of.
الأسماء المعدودة (Countable) هي أشياء يمكننا عدّها: one apple, two apples. ولها صيغة مفرد وصيغة جمع. أما الأسماء غير المعدودة (Uncountable) فهي أشياء لا نعدّها واحدًا واحدًا، مثل water وrice وbread وmoney وmusic وinformation وadvice. وليس لها جمع، ولا نستخدم معها a أو an.

some وany، وmuch وmany
استخدم some في الجمل المثبتة، وعندما نعرض شيئًا أو نطلبه أيضًا: Would you like some juice? واستخدم any في الجمل المنفية ومعظم الأسئلة. واستخدم many مع الأسماء المعدودة الجمع وmuch مع الأسماء غير المعدودة. ونستخدمهما غالبًا في النفي والأسئلة. أما في الجمل المثبتة فتبدو a lot of أكثر طبيعية.
- We need some rice and some tomatoes for dinner.
- There isn't any bread left.
- How many cousins do you have?
- I don't have much free time this week.
- Can I have some water, please?
