강조와 양보를 위한 전치

Fronting for emphasis and concession

강조를 위해 단어를 앞으로 옮기고, Strange as it may seem 같은 형태로 양보를 나타냅니다.

영어는 보통 주어를 먼저 두지만, 숙련된 필자는 강조나 대조를 만들거나 앞 문장과 자연스럽게 이어지도록 어떤 요소를 문장 맨 앞에 두어 front(전치)합니다. 전치 구조 중에는 inversion(도치)이 필요한 것도 있고 그렇지 않은 것도 있습니다.

구조패턴예

concessive fronting(양보 전치)에서는 형용사, 부사 또는 동사가 먼저 오고 그 뒤에 as나 though가 오며 although는 쓰지 않습니다. Hard though it was, Kofi admitted the mistake. much의 경우에는 Much as I admire her courage, I cannot support the plan이라고 합니다. 전치된 보어 뒤에서도 be를 사용한 도치가 나타납니다. Also important is the cost of training.

  • Up the steps ran the children, laughing loudly.
  • Here comes the bus at last!
  • Brave as the rescuers were, they could not enter the tunnel.
  • Not a single word of apology did she offer.
  • I rarely praise anyone, but Aiko really does deserve it.
