Present simple or present continuous

Scegli tra il present simple per abitudini e fatti e il present continuous per le azioni che accadono adesso.

L'inglese ha due tempi presenti. Il present simple si usa per abitudini, routine e fatti sempre veri. Il present continuous (am / is / are + verbo-ing) si usa per azioni che accadono adesso o in questo periodo, e per situazioni temporanee.

Verbi di stato

Alcuni verbi descrivono stati, non azioni. Di solito si usano al present simple, anche quando intendiamo adesso: like, love, hate, want, need, know, understand, remember, believe e own. Di' I know the answer, non I am knowing the answer.

  • Aiko usually walks to school, but today she is taking the bus because it is raining.
  • Listen! Someone is playing the piano upstairs.
  • Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.
  • I don't understand this question. Can you help me?
  • My cousin is staying with us until Friday.
