Present simple or present continuous

Pilih antara present simple untuk kebiasaan dan fakta, dan present continuous untuk tindakan yang sedang terjadi sekarang.

Bahasa Inggris punya dua bentuk waktu sekarang. present simple dipakai untuk kebiasaan, rutinitas, dan fakta yang selalu benar. present continuous (am / is / are + verb-ing) dipakai untuk tindakan yang sedang terjadi sekarang atau sekitar sekarang, dan untuk keadaan sementara.

Kata kerja keadaan

Beberapa kata kerja menggambarkan keadaan, bukan tindakan. Kita biasanya memakainya dalam present simple, bahkan saat maksudnya sekarang: like, love, hate, want, need, know, understand, remember, believe, dan own. Katakan I know the answer, bukan I am knowing the answer.

  • Aiko usually walks to school, but today she is taking the bus because it is raining.
  • Listen! Someone is playing the piano upstairs.
  • Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.
