¿Presente perfecto o pasado simple?
Present perfect or past simple?
Aprende cuándo hablar de un tiempo terminado en el pasado y cuándo conectar el pasado con el presente.
Los dos tiempos hablan del pasado, pero lo miran de forma distinta. El past simple describe una acción en un tiempo terminado: yesterday, last week, in 2019, when I was a child. El present perfect (have/has + participio pasado) conecta el pasado con el presente. Lo usamos cuando el tiempo no ha terminado, cuando el momento exacto no importa o cuando el resultado importa ahora.
| Punto | Pasado simple | Presente perfecto |
|---|---|---|
| Form | worked, went, saw | have / has + worked, gone, seen |
| Time | a finished time: yesterday, last year, ago | an unfinished or unstated time: today, this week, ever, never |
| Experience | Ravi visited Lisbon in 2022. | Ravi has visited Lisbon twice. |
| Duration | Lena lived in Oslo for five years. (She doesn't now.) | Lena has lived in Oslo for five years. (She still does.) |
Palabras de tiempo que ayudan
Palabras como yesterday, last month, two days ago e in 2020 indican un tiempo terminado, así que van con el pasado simple. Palabras como ever, never, already, yet, just, so far, since y for suelen ir con el presente perfecto. Una conversación a menudo empieza con el presente perfecto y después pasa al pasado simple para dar los detalles.
- A: Have you ever tried Ethiopian food? B: Yes, I have. I ate it at a street festival last summer.
- Aiko has just finished her report, so she can help us now.
- Tomás started his new job three weeks ago.
- This is the first time I've visited this museum.
- We haven't seen the new science centre yet.
