หลีกเลี่ยงการพูดซ้ำด้วย so, not, one, do so และ reduced clause และรู้ว่าการละแบบใดฟังเป็นธรรมชาติ

สังเกตความแตกต่างระหว่าง Neither did I, Nor did I และ So did I สองแบบแรกตามหลังประโยคปฏิเสธ ส่วนแบบสุดท้ายตามหลังประโยคบอกเล่า หลัง than ทั้งรูปลดรูป (than expected) และรูปเต็ม (than was expected) ถูกต้อง แต่ประโยคลดรูปพบบ่อยกว่าในงานเขียนทางการ

  • Will the funding be approved? If not, we shall cancel the trip.
  • Some students took notes by hand and others typed them.
  • The committee has not met, nor is it expected to before May.
  • I wanted to attend but wasn't able to.
  • When asked about the delay, the manager said she had not been told.
