間接話法
Reported speech
ほかの人の発言、質問、依頼を伝える方法と、時制がいつ変わるかを学びます。
あとで誰かの言葉を伝えるときは、通常 say、tell、ask などの伝達動詞を使います。伝達動詞が過去形の場合、伝える内容の節の動詞は、多くの場合1つ前の時制にずれます。

代名詞や時を表す語も、新しい状況に合わせて変わります。today は that day、tomorrow は the next day または the following day、here は there、ago は before になります。
say、tell、ask
Tell は目的語として人が必要ですが、say は必要ありません。間接話法の疑問文は、平叙文の語順を使い、疑問符は付けません。yes/no 疑問文には if または whether を使います。依頼や命令を伝えるには、ask または tell + 人 + to + 不定詞を使います。
- Mateo told me (that) he was moving to Chile.
- Mateo said (that) he was moving to Chile.
- She asked me where I lived.
- He asked if I had a pen.
- The coach told us not to be late.

"We're leaving tomorrow," Ali said on Sunday. On Sunday, Ali said they were leaving the day.
The guide (say / tell) us that the castle was closed.
"Where did you buy that jacket?" Nina asked me where I that jacket.
