Jamal's diary

Saturday, 9 June

Rafael and I took the early train to Pine Valley this morning. We arrived at 8 o'clock and started walking straight away. The weather was sunny and warm, and the path through the forest was easy. We stopped by a river for lunch and ate the sandwiches my mum made for us.

In the afternoon, we wanted to climb to the top of Eagle Hill, but after an hour, a thick fog came down. We couldn't see the path any more, so we decided to turn back. I was disappointed, but Rafael said, "The mountain will still be here next time."

We spent the night in a small wooden hut near the lake. There were six other walkers there, and we all cooked pasta together and played cards until late.

Sunday, 10 June

This morning the sky was completely clear. We walked up a different hill, and the view from the top was amazing. We could see the lake, the forest and even the village where we started. I took about a hundred photos!

We got home at 7 pm. My legs are very tired, but I want to go back soon and climb Eagle Hill.
