Advertising

Learning comes first.

Where advertisements appear

The lesson lists and lesson pages show native advertisements from MGID: outside the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and in those regions only after you agree in the consent window. They appear between lesson cards and topics in lesson lists, in two columns at the sides of the page on wide screens, as a short block at the bottom of the page and, on phones, as a bar at the bottom of the screen in lesson lists; never inside a lesson, between its explanation, exercises or player. MGID labels them Promoted content. The home page, the information pages, account pages and the stories for children, with their list, have no advertisements.

How we promote the site

We may advertise our lessons on other websites. Links from those advertisements include campaign labels and the advertisement’s placement number. We record them only if you allow optional measurement, as described in the Privacy Policy.

What we never do

Advertisements are kept apart from Play, Check answer and Next, never cover a lesson and never play sound. On phones, the bar in lesson lists appears after you scroll, opens over most of the screen only when you swipe it up, can be closed at any time and stays away for 30 minutes after you close it. The side columns stay beside the page while you scroll. Advertising lists have a fixed length and do not keep loading as you scroll.

Your choices

In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland a consent window asks before any advertisement loads, and Cookie settings at the bottom of every page reopens it. In every region, Global Privacy Control in your browser turns advertisements off, and you can block third-party cookies in your browser settings. See the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for what advertising partners receive.

Editorial independence

Advertisers do not influence lessons, answers or explanations. An advertisement is not a recommendation from Joy English. To report a misleading or offensive advertisement, send the page address and a short description through the Contact page.
