กริยาและ collocation ทางวิชาการ

งานเขียนเชิงวิชาการระดับสูงอาศัยกริยาที่เฉพาะเจาะจงมากกว่ากริยาทั่วไป แทนที่จะพูดว่างานวิจัยหนึ่งแสดงบางสิ่งหรือนำไปสู่บางสิ่ง ผู้เขียนจะเลือกกริยาที่ชี้ให้เห็นชัดว่าหลักฐานสนับสนุนข้อโต้แย้ง ทำให้อ่อนลง หรือเปิดคำถามใหม่อย่างไร กริยาเหล่านี้หลายตัวมี collocation ที่แน่นหนา จึงควรเรียนแต่ละตัวพร้อมคำที่มักอยู่ด้วยกัน
