Respuestas
- Economists have long insisted that anything scarce must be priced, yet our attention is spent daily without a receipt.“Have long insisted” es presente perfecto. “Yet” aquí significa pero, con un matiz de sorpresa.
- Every notification asks for a small payment, and the cumulative bill is a mind that can no longer linger on one thing.“Cumulative”: CUE-myoo-luh-tiv. El grupo nominal “a mind that can no longer…” esconde la idea principal al final.
- What makes this so insidious is that the transaction feels free; nobody pays money, and so nobody counts the cost.Esta oración hendida empieza con “What makes this…” y retrasa su respuesta. “Insidious” lleva el acento en “sid”.
- Rarely do we ask what we would have thought about, had we not been interrupted.Después de “rarely” el verbo va primero: “do we ask”. “Had we not been” significa si no hubiéramos estado.
- If attention is the raw material of a good life, then guarding it is hardly a luxury.“Hardly” es una palabra negativa: proteger la atención no es un lujo. Escucha la pausa después de “life”, que separa la condición de la conclusión.
