Soluzioni
- The envelope had been forwarded twice before it finally reached him.“Had been forwarded” è un past perfect passivo. In “reached him” la h di “him” è debole.
- He knew the careful handwriting at once.“Knew” suona come “new”; la k è muta. “At once” significa subito.
- It was from the teacher who had encouraged him to study languages.In “who had encouraged him”, “had” è debole e “him” perde la h.
- She wrote that she had kept a copy of his first essay.“Had kept” è il past perfect. La t di “wrote” si sente appena prima di “that”.
- He read the letter three times before he felt ready to reply.Scrivi three in lettere o in cifre. Qui “read” è il passato e suona come “red”.
