- Tom came home from school at four.“At four” は “a-four” のように聞こえ、t はとても短いです。数字は単語でも数字でも書けます。
- There was a yellow note on the fridge.“There was a” は速く発音されます：“there-wuz-a”。
- The note said that dinner was in the oven.“Said that” はつながります：“sed-that”。“In the oven” は1つのまとまりとして発音されます。
- His sister had made his favorite pasta.“Had made” は過去完了形で、彼が帰宅する前に彼女が料理したという意味です。イギリス式の “favourite” も正解になります。
- He ate it all and washed the plate.“Ate it all” はつながって “ay-ti-tall” になります。“Washed” は t の音で終わります。
