과거형: 규칙 동사와 불규칙 동사
Past simple: regular and irregular verbs
규칙 동사의 -ed, 흔한 불규칙 동사, did로 과거에 끝난 행동을 말해 봅시다.
과거에 시작해서 끝난 행동이나 상황에는 past simple(과거형)을 씁니다. 언제 일어났는지 함께 말하는 경우가 많습니다: yesterday, last week, two days ago, in 2019.
규칙 동사
규칙 동사는 -ed를 붙입니다: work → worked, visit → visited. -e로 끝나는 동사는 -d만 붙입니다: live → lived. 자음 + y로 끝나는 동사는 y를 -ied로 바꿉니다: study → studied. 모음 하나 + 자음 하나로 끝나는 짧은 동사는 마지막 글자를 겹쳐 씁니다: stop → stopped, plan → planned.
흔한 불규칙 동사
흔한 동사 중에는 불규칙 동사가 많습니다. 규칙이 없으므로 목록으로 외우는 것이 좋습니다.

부정문과 의문문
부정문과 의문문에는 동사원형과 함께 did 또는 didn't를 씁니다. 규칙 동사든 불규칙 동사든, 어떤 주어든 똑같습니다.
- Lena visited her cousins in Valencia last summer.
- We went to the lake on Sunday and had a picnic.
- Ravi didn't finish his homework yesterday.
- Did you see the fireworks? Yes, I did.
- Where did Aiko buy that lamp?
