Aiko's first day
It is Monday morning. Aiko is nervous. It is her first day at a new school in a new city, and she does not know anyone.
She walks into the classroom and sits near the window. A boy with curly hair smiles at her. "Hi, I'm Tomás," he says. "Are you new?" "Yes," says Aiko. "My family lives here now. We are from Osaka."
The teacher, Ms Banda, is kind and funny. The first lesson is maths. Aiko loves maths, and she knows a lot of the answers.
At lunchtime, Tomás and his friend Kemal sit with Aiko. They eat sandwiches and talk about music. Kemal plays the guitar, and Aiko plays the piano. "We need a piano player for our school band!" says Kemal.
After school, Aiko's mother asks, "How was your first day?" Aiko smiles. "Good," she says. "I have two new friends, and maybe a band!"
