There is and there are

there is と there are を使って、部屋、通り、町に何があるかを言います。

there is と there are は、何かが存在すること、またはある場所に何があるかを言うときに使います。部屋、通り、町を説明するのにとても便利です。

a, some, any

1つの物には a または an を使います。2つ以上の物には、肯定文では数字、some、a lot of を使い、否定文と疑問文では any を使います。there is の短縮形は there's です。書くときは、there are は普通短縮しません。

  • There's a big park near our flat.
  • There are some eggs in the fridge.
  • There aren't any cafés on this street.
  • Is there a toilet on this floor? Yes, there is.
  • How many people are there in your family?
